LIFESTYLE or LIFE

Time and again, numerous reports claimed the Kathmandu Valley as risky city to live, yet we Nepalese were happy to settle inside the Valley. There might be numerous factors behind the in-migration towards valley such as  fancy life, better health facilities, better job opportunities, better education, etc. But what's more important?
LIFESTYLE    or    LIFE???

Dated 25th April, 2015, Earthquake of 7.6 Richter scale hit us. Though, the devastation was not that much as expected or claimed by global research. However, 1000s of people died, the other 1000s of people were injured, buildings (school, residential) collapsed, other 1000s of buildings are lying with cracks all around, country faced the loss of millions of property. The loss we, Nepalese bear was unimaginable and still is unimaginable if similar kinda quake occur in near future.

Each year passing-by, Valley is inviting more and more population. No matter, how much the global research reports alarm us, we, the proud Nepalese are happy to buy the land and build the multistory buildings (that too earthquake non-resistant buildings).

Now it's high time to think,
shall we keep the valley and us (the people) in critical condition?
OR
take the valley out of the alarming point?

Question arises...
HOW??

Answer is simple,     DECENTRALIZATION !!!
We, as aware citizen, must
  • pressurize the civil societies to research and advocate on the modalities of decentralization
  • pressurize the system to implement the best suited model of decentralization

Kathmandu Valley is the 3rd most polluted city in world: Is It???

Few days back, there were headlines in national newspaper stating the Kathmandu Valley being third polluted city  around the world which caught my eyes. Kathmandu Valley due to its geographical structure, continuous influx of population from all around the country, presence of more than 100 brick kiln industries, ever increasing number of vehicle and the emission caused by them, unplanned solid waste management strategies (no sanitary landfill site), limited drinking water supply as per demand, unplanned construction activities, etc. are the leading problem behind these pollution. But still, it was eye catching fact that Kathmandu Valley being third polluted city. The same surprise dragged me to check the research based site. The information's provided in site and the way national newspaper presented the information more surprised me than the headline as mentioned in following pictures. https://thehimalayantimes.com/nepal/valley-chokes-air-pollution-levels-shoot/ http:/...
