On behalf of entire children of Nepal, Center for Public Health and Environmental Development (CEPHED) would like to wholeheartedly thanks and welcome the Government of Nepal`s Child Friendly, Health and Environment friendly decision of enacting Toys Standard through publishing a gazette notification on 16th January 2017. This will definitely help to ensure the Child Right to Play Safe and Healthy. The standard enacted is a progressive step taken by the Government of Nepal, Ministry of Population and Environment (MOPE) is really an important success of CEPHED`s 3.5 years of research based campaign, struggle, working in collaboration with concerned government agencies and advocating for the same. I think this is the best ever gift of Government of Nepal to Nepalese Children in the beginning of the new year 2017. Thank you all for the supporting this important issues.
Note: Decision was made by Government of Nepal on the basis of research findings from the study "Study of Presence of Toxic chemicals in children toys" conducted by Centre for Public Health and Environmental Development (CEPHED), 2013 with the support of UNEP Eco Peace Leadership programme, Yuhan-Kimberly University.
